What are the Real Gifts That Matter?

How many of you are scurrying about to find the perfect gift for those in your life? Sometimes it is the white elephant gift to the office party, or perhaps it is a gift that truly reflect how deeply you love someone — like an engagement ring, or perhaps it a handmade gift that comes from your kitchen for the next door neighbor. A gift is typically defined in terms of a thing given willingly to someone without payment OR a natural skill or ability.

2. The gift of money — In a word, money provides. Money is a universal exchange that allows a person to provide for oneself and also for others. Remember the biblical principle “It is better to give than to receive.” Acts 20:35

4. The gift of learning — Best learning quote: “Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty.” Henry Ford

5. The gift of friends — Friends are not measured on social channels, they are not reflected on social channels. Friend is a word that is thrown around far too easily by people who don’t know the meaning of it. “There’s nothing like a really loyal, dependable, good friend. Nothing.” Jennifer Aniston

7. The gift of freedom — Freedoms should be protected, defended, fought for, and celebrated. They should be exercised properly, keeping in mind the consequences, good or bad, that come along with them. For with freedom, comes great responsibility.

8. The gift of faith — “The assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” Even if you are not a spiritual person, faith is demonstrated every day. Think about how many times you get into a car or a plane and believe, have faith, that the vehicle will work correctly and get you from point A to point B. Really one of the best examples of what faith mean on a daily basis. Believe in the unseen.

9. The gift of giving — True wealth is not acquired through earthly possessions, but by leading a fulfilling life. There is nothing more fulfilling than knowing you have made a palpable difference in the lives of other people. We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give. Winston Churchill

10. The gift of time — This is the one gift that is priceless. There are only 24 hours in the day. Use them wisely to invest in your health, family, work, and the other gifts on this list.
