What You Owe Yourself In Life

My friend, you owe a lot to yourself.

We spend most of our life focusing on things that we owe our work, family, friends but never really think about what we owe ourself. I want to remind you that you owe a lot to yourself and the first thing is appreciation.

No shit, but to me, it`s the most important debt. Appreciation of your existence, realizing that your life worth as much as anyone`s in the world and you deserve everything that you dream of and dreaming is a luxury, not everyone dreams big in life. Don`t take your life for granted, someone who is dying is praying to live one more day and someone who has big dreams and plans dies in an accident each second.

Forgiveness. Forgive yourself for being a shit person sometimes because aren`t we all act like a piece of shit sometimes and realizing it only afterward? Forgiveness is important, not forgiving holds you back in life and nothing should hold you back because yesterday is gone and unlike your ex, it ain't coming back again.

Understanding that you can be wrong, insecure and lost sometimes, you can be lazy and frustrated. It`s our human nature, we live we learn, we fall. The acceptance of it is already a huge aspect of being wise and in peace with yourself. But don't use this as an excuse to do shit things. To me, it is only acceptable if you didn`t realize it is wrongdoing.

The fourth one sounds cringe but its so fucking true, you owe yourself a caring attitude towards your body because the human body is created to be actively moved, by doing 5 min exercise you help your body to breath as if it was you who was taken to the mountains to breathe the fresh air. Just know that your body is the most expensive asset you can ever own. What else?

Your family — spending quality time with them.

Your sanity — enjoying your friends and hobbies.

Your identity — having one outside of work.

Your integrity — keeping your actions and beliefs in alignment.

Your investments in yourself — money, time and effort

Imagine you are on your death bed and you were given a paper with a pen to write down seven most important “I am”s, that made who you are (a common practice in psychology). It should be a noun like “ I am a creative mind, I am an entrepreneur, I am a high achiever, I am an artist, I am free spirited, I am a perfectionist, I am a dreamer”, the most important I ams in your life. By doing it, you will know yourself better and appreciate the seven I ams that makes you, you. I think knowing yourself to the max is the most important thing you owe yourself.
