MY JOURNEY TO BECOMING A PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL PLAYER AND CURRENTLY A COACH

I am from Nigeria in West Africa, from a family of seven kids, four boys and three girls.

Every one of my kids is at school and studying very hard to be successful in our choosing profession.

I wanted to be a political scientist when I grew up, like the rest of my siblings, some became medical personnel, Bankers, physiologists, etc.

All through my school days, I was very active playing football from my earliest stages in my Primary School, where I was picked among the kids to represent my school in the then inter primary school football matches.

I didn’t have the chance to go to a football academy, or i had a professional football coaching at my village.

All these while I usually practice with my area youth team after school hours, which didn’t go down well with my parents, then as every parent then wants their kids to study and become doctors or lawyers. That was the big challenge that I had to come over.

Finally, I got selected to represent my local government area at the State all primary school football tournament at the state capital, from where they would choose those that will represent the State at the National level. Still, my Dad refused to allow me to travel with the team even with pleading from the Zonal Coach in charge.

I have changed my school, and get enrolled at a boy’s school, that had only one school team the name of the school was Famous Government College Ughelli, Nigeria. The school was well well known for its academic excellence and great football talents and organization, the school has produced some of the most beautiful football players in Nigeria.

I got into the school team when I was in year four, and I played for my school team till I got to year six.

Finally, I got another chance to represent my school at the annual state sports festival, which was a massive exposure for me and also boost my self-confidence in the game.

My defining moment came when I started going to watch professional football matches in the city with a big stadium. I was with one of our youth team supporters, that helped to shape my thought and helped increase my confidence that I can play football at the professional level.

The lucky day when we were playing our usual city end of year tournament. The competition is usually happening toward the end of every year, and the beautiful thing about this tournament is that Coaches from most Professional clubs are generally around to scout for young players for the next football session.

I was lucky to be scouted by the then DELTA STARS FOOTBALL CLUB Coach, this was a well-known football club playing in the second division of the Nigeria Professional Football League.

That was the beginning of my Professional Football Career.

I played three football seasons with Delta Stars F C, and then I move to Julius Berger Football Club in Lagos, Nigeria.

Julius Berger FC was about the biggest and most performing football team in the First Division Professional League in Nigeria at that time.

From Julius Berger FC, I move abroad to play in the UAE. From the UAE, I move to Europe, Hungary, to be specific, where I played in Nyrechaza, with Nyrseg Spartacus Lubdarugash.

After finishing my season in Hungary, I moved to play in the Sultanate of Oman, where I played with the three biggest Clubs in Oman.

I started with the Fanja Sports club in Oman; then, I have signed to Dhofar Sports Club. One of my moments at the club when where we participated in the ASIA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE. I get an injury, and I was under treatment for around six months, and my agent chooses to go back to Dhofar Sports Club again to OMAN SPORTS CLUB.

Finally, I moved from the Sultanate of Oman to join one of the team we played against when I played with Dhofar in the Asian champion’s league in INDIA, and it’s Mahindra United FC in Mumbai India.
